There's a possibility that the port for TCP and UDP are not open in your router or firewall. These are the default ports used for PC Gphone:
UDP: 5060, TCP: 600, and UDP: 6701

Particularly if you have a LAN with a router trying to communicate outside of your network, there's the possibility that your firewall setting is blocking the port. If this is the case, then change the receiving side of the router's firewall setting to manual, and unblock the port. Please refer to your routers user's guide for more information on how to operate the firewall and change the settings.

Q: I want to use Gphone under a LAN and/or through a Router.
By having your NAT settings (IP masquerade/Port Forwarding) adjusted on your router, multiple use and use across a LAN is possible. Utilizing a function to forward the ports on your router for IP masquerade and/or NAT settings, forward the above listed ports to the DHCP assigned IP address of your computer. Note: your DHCP server or router device may change the IP address assigned to your computer. You may want to assign a permanent local IP address to your device.

Q: I can receive calls, but I cannot be heard.
First, please make sure that your microphone volume is turned up and not on mute. (You can check this from the Control Panel of your PC) Your network provider might have limitations on the setting of your network for security purposes. Gphone uses UDP port (6701) for the communication path. If this might be an issue, please contact your network administrator or your network provider for information on how you might be able to change the setting.

If you are using a router, set “Port forward” (NAT setting) for your IP address on your router.

Q: I am hearing my own voice.
It is possible that your partner has the speaker turned up high enough for you to listen to your own voice being broadcast through his/her speakers and into their microphone. Ask him/her to lower the volume of the speakers.

By using a headphone you will not only eliminate ‘echo’ but it will also provide you with a superior communication experience. We recommend Plantronics headsets which may be purchased at www.plantronics.com

Q: I cannot hear my partner's voice.
Your partner's microphone volume control might be too low. Ask him/her to adjust their microphone control. Instruct them to go to the options panel by selecting the wrench icon in the upper right corner – then choose “Sound” – “Microphone Reception”- where they may adjust their microphone level to the appropriate level. (note: press the [x] button to save the microphone level).
