Aplix and VLI Partner to Develop Java-Based SIP
and VoIP Technologies
Mountain View, CA – May 25, 2004 – Aplix Corporation,
the global leader in deploying Java technology in mobile phones,
and VLI, a market leader in Mobile Broadband VoIP Telephony products
and services, announced today that they have formed a global strategic
alliance to develop Java-based SIP and VoIP technologies. In addition,
Aplix Corporation has made an equity investment in VLI and will
join the VLI Board of Directors.
Aplix brings to the table their dominant embedded Java platform
JBlend, with over 45 million phone shipments and VLI their best-in-class
Mobile Broadband VoIP Telephony Products and Services. With this
collaboration, Aplix will immediately gain a toehold into the vast
Chinese market where VLI currently maintains an engineering staff
of over 40 engineers and VLI will gain a valuable partner in mobile
handsets whose technology has been adopted by numerous handset manufacturers
and wireless operators.
